Terrible carpet experience
We contacted a company called Edison Tapijt (Edison Interieur) in Amsterdam to put in our a carpet in the stairs of our house.
After selecting a carpet and deciding on the delivery date (which we emphasized was of huge importance to us) we made a 50 % down payment to Edison Tapijt.
Upon delivery date the following happend.
- The carpenters of Edison Tapijt, and their sales person tells us on the day of delivery that the carpet was not suited to be put in on our stairs.
- Edison Tapijt's sales person tells us on the day of delivery that we have to pick another carpet.
Therefor the carpet was not delivered to us.
As we were not interested in another carpet from Edison Tapijt, and we saw their handling of the matter as a cancellation of the order, we asked for our money back. The sales person at Edison Tapijt tells us that he has to send this to his "head office" and that it can take a couple of weeks for them to handle the matter.
In the meantime, after a week, the sales person at Edison Tapijt tells us that he has found somebody else who can put in the carpet for us.
As we have gotten the information that the carpet is not suitable for our stairs from Edison Tapijt a week earlier, we of course do not want it any more.
Now, months after, after we contacted our rechtbijstand, when we never received the money, Edison Tapijt comes with an excuse to our lawyer, that the carpet was stored in some kind of cool place and therefor could not be delivered (which was never told to us). Also they claim they want to put in the carpet, and are not willing to give us back our money.
To get rid of the matter and the irritation we feel every time we think of Edison Tapijt and this whold mess, we have even asked them to pay us back at least according to their own contract (35% annulment cost) (even though we did not annul the contract, but Edison Tapijt did when they did not deliver). Edison Tapijt still refuses to pay.
It's really upsetting how Edison Tapijt has treated us as customers. They have 50 % of the money of the full contract in their hand and has had for more than 3 months now. They can even sell on the carpet to another customer, and they have not delivered anything more than pain to us.
